The first today’s visit is Ifrane famous as the (Switzerland of Morocco). Next, we head to the Cedar Forest of Azrou where you will see Barbary Macaques, feeding them is allowed by but caution is advised. Thereafter we drive through Midelt and down the spectacular Ziz Valley, On the afternoon we reach our destination Merzouga Desert. On the edge of the dunes mount your camels and head out to your desert camp in the golden sands of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Following the climb, we keep on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping at Kalaat M’Gouna, often called as the “Rose City,” for its profusion of Damask rose farms. Here we will see a nearby women’s cooperative where ladies deftly create a range of rose-based goods including oils, soaps, and fragrances.
We next drive to the oasis village of Skoura, well-known for its breathtaking scene of old kasbahs tucked amid the trees and parched palm groves. Later head to Ouarzazate, often known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” we will have lunch in a wonderful restaurant and then check into a lovely hotel where we will spend the night.
After a typical breakfast, we leave Ouarzazate and drive for the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many well-known movies and shows, like Gladiator and Game of Thrones, have set their setting on this historic walled settlement with its arresting clay construction. It’s an amazing illustration of classic southern Moroccan design and history.
